Well, it only took 4 years, but we managed a trip to the Rusty Cage stage, this time the new one! It was quite appropriate to hit the stage during a game in the Stanley Cup playoffs, since that was the last time we visited a Cage, during the Flames' big run in '04. We were all pretty jacked to get up and rock the newest gig in town, and so we did. Thursday was game 2 between the Flames and Sharks, so the bar was pretty full of fans watching the game, and a good portion stuck around to see the band, which was cool. Friday was great, the band played well and the crowd danced all night long. It was cool to see about 5 people celebrating their birthdays with groups of friends, it added a good party vibe. Saturday was an absolute shit show, the bar was lined up all night and the people acted like it was a rock concert, singing along to the big arena rock tunes and pumping their fists in the air! It was pretty awesome. Lots of friends came out to hang out and cheer us on, and that was killer, thanks to all our friends for popping down and cheers to the new friends we made this weekend.
Silly Wrabbit takes on the Rustier Cage this weekend, come on down!
Richmond's!!
Monday, April 07, 2008
Well, we just completed back to back weekends at Richmond's Pub. The first weekend was with Silly Wrabbit and the second weekend was with Sugarpuss, and they both kicked ass! I hadn't seen the place that busy on a Saturday night, seriously, and that's a good thing. Both weekends went down great with birthday parties, hockey games and all sorts of drinking. Thanks to Sebastion for filling in for Kevin during the Juno weekend. We can't wait to get back to Richmond's, this is one of our favorites!
Sugarpuss welcomed to the New Rusty Cage!
Tuesday, April 01, 2008
After 3 years absence, Sugarpuss will once again grace a stage at a Rusty Cage, namely the new Cage at Studio 82! This is great news to those that live in the south end of Calgary that have missed us at the King's Head, and we expect a full house both nights of the weekend since the south end of Calgary hasn't seen us for the last few months. We play April 10, 11 and 12,so Thursday to Saturday, come on down and help us impress the bar.
Silly Wrabbit vs. New Cage
Monday, March 17, 2008
This last weekend was our second trip into to new Rusty Cage, and it fell on the St.Patty's weekend, so we knew there might be some drinking going on! Thursday to Saturday is a fun trip to take, with Thursdays being our anything goes night. We jammed out half the night, including some Aerosmith, Cult and Offspring. Friday was a fun night, with the place filled up and rocking right out of the gate. Brian got up on the bar for "Dancing With Myself", which rocked. It was hilarious seeing him up there wailing away and banging down shots. Very out of the comfort zone for him, nice going, it sparked a night of playing behind his head and some teeth soloing also. Rock star. Saturday was the feather in the cap though. It was lined up by 9:30 when we got there, and 80% of the bar was decked out in green. This was a crazy night, everyone was packed in and dancing right away, and we got Trish up to sing a few songs, which went over killer (maybe a Sugarpuss date to follow?). This gig is quickly becoming the top place in town to see and be seen in. Check play dates for our next gig at the south Cage.

Sugarpuss took on Bugaboo Creek Pub.
Wednesday, March 12, 2008
It was our maiden voyage into the deep north west and we had a surprising amount of friends come out to support us. Dave, Scott and Al came out Friday night to hang out and came up to jam out half a set of tunes, which was a ball. On Saturday night Jamie's Motley Crue tribute band came out and brought Bruce, Tony and Moz down for some good times. Tony jumped on the sound board to give us a hand as we didn't have a soundman for the weekend because Norm bailed on us. Elizabeth tried her hand at mixing sound and did a good job, but Tony's experience was needed to get the bottom end pumping, and he did. The fellas came up to do some jamming and the whole weekend was actually quite a blast. The room is really big and got pretty filled up on Saturday and Peter, the owner, enjoyed the band. Trish celebrated her birthday Saturday night also, but to a small degree, since she had a long drive home. Next up is Silly Wrabbit at the new Rusty Cage south.
Silly Wrabbit at Morgan's.
Monday, February 11, 2008
Well, except for the blizzard, this was a fun weekend. Thursday was quite busy to start out with, and we celebrated Chris Doi's 18th birthday before calling it a night. Friday was fun, not much to say here. Saturday started out packed and got quite crazy. There was a loser trying to destroy a table beside Brad, and he eventually got kicked out which started a brawl on the top section. Lots of people celebrated birthdays on Saturday as well. Can't think of anything else, heading to Vegas. Goodbye snow (for a week).
Dicken's Pub vs. Sugarpuss.
Sunday, February 03, 2008
We took the Sugarpuss show down to the new and improved Dicken's Pub to scan the scene, and found it to be about the same... The new management team hasn't had enough time to make wholesale changes, but we're told that they will be more consistant with the bands they book and offer drink specials as well as keep it a 2 night gig, which is an easier sell to get bands in. The room has always been great looking, and it sounds good too, they even brought in our old buddy TJ to do house sound, so there is a live soundman all weekend, which is paramount. Elena (ex of Richmond's Pub) is one of the new waitresses they hired, and we hope they continue to add more pros like her down there. We wish Rob great success down there, and we are sure he will get it back to the glory days that it has had in the past. Check the place out if you haven't been down for a while, they would love to see you. Keep your eyes on the playdates for the next Silly Wrabbit/Sugarpuss date down there.
New Cage Rocks!
Sunday, January 27, 2008
For those that caught Silly Wrabbit's maiden voyage into the steamy waters of the Rusty Cage @ Studio 82, you already know how cool this place is, but for those that didn't... you missed out! The bar is kickass, the capacity of over 300 was filled both Friday and Saturday, by 11 pm. The room is built for sound, and D-RoCk is at the helm for all the bands, which couldn't get better, one of the best sounding rooms with one of the best soundmen is a treat for everyone that shows up. Tom and his staff do a great job, and Ray keeps order amidst chaos. This was onlt the 4th weekend in the joint and they are lined up already, insane. Jamie Landry popped out on Saturday and came up to play a couple songs on JW's guitar, which enabled him to jump on the bar to sing "Crazy Bitch" and "Fire Woman". Sandra was next up with "Sweet Child O' Mine" and "I Love Rock And Roll". Brian even threw on a Slash wig and top hat for the G n' R tune! We cannot wait to get back to the Rusty Studio ASAP, and Ray is keeping our rotation nice n' tight, they way we like it. Next mission is to get Sugarpuss in there, since we also have a stellar reputation for packing the dance floor in the south. What do you say Ray? Jeff?
Big Al's?
Wednesday, January 23, 2008
Hey there folks, I just got off the phone with Juan down at Big Al's and it sounds like they are ready to book live bands back into the room. Great news, Sugarpuss always had a ball mowing the 'Lawn. Look for some dates to roll in around April.
