High School Losers
Sunday, May 09, 2010

After a 7 month run at the Rusty Cage, the High School Losers are moving out to make room for RocSwell DJs to come in and take the night in a new direction. This leaves us ready to take on another club, bringing the retro party to a different side of town. There are a couple of clubs pitching the idea, so look for a re-launch as early as June. in the meantime, we will be picking up some weekends, like Richmond's and Original Joe's, as well as booking up some more Rusty Cage dates, possibly an occasional Thursday.

Rusty Cage empire!
Sunday, March 14, 2010

Silly Wrabbit just finished out another great weekend at the Rusty Cage at Studio 82. Our Friday night consisted of a quick hour long opening set of all our favorite tunes. After ripping it up for an hour, we got to sit back and be entertained by Canada's own MoBadAss, featuring Earl Pereira of Wide Mouth Mason fame. They kicked out 2 great sets of "vacation music", and had tight harmonies. Check them out next time they come through town... unless we are playing somewhere : )
Saturday was a crazy party, starting out to a packed house, of birthday parties and a pub crawl. People were drinking their asses off and dancing up a storm, which fueled us to rock our cocks off. Brian even hopped of the drum riser during "Jump"!! I know! Brian! Crazy hey?
While on the subject of the Rusty Cage, we are excited to be taking on the newest edition the Cage family, the Rusty Cage on 16th Ave! We are looking forward to taking the show down there in April. The new place looks killer, and is a packed house every night. Silly Wrabbit looks forward to knocking the shit outta the place April 15, 16 and 17th!

March madness!
Friday, March 05, 2010

Big month of March is here and Silly Wrabbit is playing all around town, with weekends at Big Al's, Studio 82 and Richmond's. The High School Losers with jump into Original Joe's for 1 night this month also, as well as the usual Monday nights at Rusty Cage. We look forward to seeing all our friends out to their closest gig!

Central Cage Feb 6,7,8
Saturday, February 06, 2010

I am writing this early, because after the gig a bunch of us are flying out to Vegas for a few days. Nothing like playing at one of our favorite bars before a killer vaction with friends!
Thursday went off great, we managed to fix a couple nagging issues with a couple of tunes, and Jay was mixing the band. It's great to see the bass bins rumbling on a Thursday! Friday night was a good time, with a big birthday party with some new friends from Hummingbird Spas. Pete and Trish popped in for a set or two, Amanda and Terry rocked out with us (pre Vegas mixer), and our good pals from Jawbone Hill, Jay and Scott, came out for the night. It's so cool to see other bands down on their weekends off, I need to get out more often myself!
Hope everyone has a great week, Silly Wrabbit returns to Morgans Pub next Thursday - Saturday, it's been a long time since our last trip downtown, and we look forward to seeing a ton of friends we haven't seen in a while!

Rusty Cage
Wednesday, February 03, 2010

This weekend we hit the original Rusty Cage for 3 nights of ear fucking. We start on Thursday and continue through till Saturday. We have added some new songs since we last played the Cage, Sex On Fire, She's A Genius, Rain, Uprising, Take Me Out to name a few. We look forward to seeing all our friends out for a 3 night weekend for all sorts of jam-foolery!

New year!
Wednesday, February 03, 2010

Well, we are now into 2010... A full decade into the 2000s! Doesn't it seem like we were all worried about computers crashing, end of the world shit just a couple years ago?, Nope! That was WAY back 10 years ago now. Anyways, Silly Wrabbit is looking forward to another successful year, with more dates at Morgans, a brand new Rusty Cage and continuing growth at new gigs like Original Joe's and Bookers.

Our offshoot project, the High School Losers continue to rock the 80s pop hits every Monday at the original Rusty Cage for Industry Night, playing such cheeseballs as Oh Sherrie, Come On Eileen, I Ran, Hungry Like The Wolf, Turn Up The Radio and Final Countdown. Good times indeed!

Keep checking the play dates section to keep up-to-date with where Silly Wrabbit is playing, and keep checking back here to find out what's new with the guys... and possibly get a load of our overhauled website soon!

Busy boys...
Wednesday, August 12, 2009

We have been going strong lately, especially with Brad, Jamie and Sebastian doing a fun little side project called "High School Losers", an all 80s tribute, complete with keyboards and costumes. That band has been booked into some weeknight house gigs in the Tropicana and Rusty Cage, with Silly Wrabbit still slugging it out on weekends at our usual haunts.
We are trying to think of some fun stuff to add to the Silly Wrabbit playlist, like some newer radio hits as well as a disco medley and some cool 90s hits. If you have any ideas of stuff you think we should be doing, e-mail us and let us know at brad@sillywrabbit.com

Morgan's Pub!
Sunday, March 22, 2009

We ended up playing Morgan's amidst some confusion this weekend as the band was double booked. Everything got sorted out and we fired up the show Thursday night. We ran out some new tunes for the crowd, including Bad Girlfriend, Beat It, Bullet With Butterfly Wings and Wonderwall. We are revisiting the 90's lately to great reviews, and lots of fun for us as well. The new management at Morgan's is awesome, and Roli knows how throw a party. We made a bunch of new friends this weekend that we hope to see at future shows, including our new part time lead singer Jamie-lynn! Good times were had by all, thanks again to all our friends that popped out, even through the shitty weather Saturday. Our next Morgan's gig will be in June, check the playdates section.

Brickyard one night only
Tuesday, March 03, 2009

This weekend was supposed to be 2 nights, but has been reduced to only Friday night now, which means you can pop out and have fun with us Friday and still be able to catch the UFC fights on Saturday in your favorite watering hole...

The Brickyard.
Sunday, January 25, 2009

This was our first of many trips to the newest gig in town, the Brickyard. We had out good buddy Rod Perry mixing the band on the provided gear, and he did a great job. The stage is set at the far end of the bar with a giant dance floor in front of it. The bar is in 2 sections it seems, with one side having a clear view of the stage and the other being the bar side with plenty of seating. Tom and Holly and a couple of the ex doormen from the south Rusty Cage are there to keep the party going and the rest of the staff are friendly and quick to serve. It is a cool room right downtown and we look forward to visiting it again soon.
